You have selected a very rewarding field for your studies that will provide you with a wide variety of career opportunities. As you progress through the Chemical Engineering curriculum, you will learn general principles that can be applied to many different types of processes. You will gain the ability to think, analyze, and solve problems, and it is up to you to decide where and how you want to apply these skills. This handbook is designed to provide you with useful information about chemical engineering at the University of Iowa. As illustrated in the Table of Contents, you can find broad information about the program's educational objectives, and outcomes which are the attributes you should have when you complete the program, as well as specific graduate requirements and a suggested 4-year curriculum, including descriptions of the new Elective Focus Areas. The handbook also describes the advising program, and provides information about professional development opportunities you may want to pursue.
